Hey Dave - Thank you SO much for getting the ball rolling on this! Marc & I are very excited to explore with all of you! We are flexible on dates but would love to stick with February or March. We would like to include some island local dining/grab & go food experiences. I am also happy to play a role in food planning & cooking for the team. Therefore, we would like to vote for Option 2. We have never done anything like this before and so we are totally open & flexible. Here's to an unforgettable 2026 BVI CatCruise! Thank you! :-)
ReplyDeleteYou're welcome! I believe Pete and Sue were good with the beginning of March. I'll get that confirmed. Marisa and I are flexible with the dates and prefer option 2. Make sure to check out the pics of the boat and the amenities and suggested itinerary.

the onboard freezer (26 gallons) seems small, do we need to bring a cooler?
ReplyDeleteDo we pack and ship our own meats- chicken, steak and burgers?

ReplyDeleteHey Barb, hope your summer is going well. We are discussing our trip to BVI and were considering packing and checking our own meat in a cooler as you suggested.
But during the research I saw this....
While it's possible to ship meat to the British Virgin Islands (BVI), it's not recommended due to potential restrictions, high shipping costs, and the availability of quality meats locally
You may need a permit from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries, and it's wise to declare all food items at customs.
Elaboration:
Permits:
Importing meat into the BVI requires a special permit from the Department of Agriculture and Fisheries. This is due to regulations related to diseases like Mad Cow and Hoof and Mouth.
Did you have any problems with customs? What did you have to do if anything?
thanks,
Hi Dave. Our summer is going great.
DeleteWe just went to the BVI in May. My check in bag at the airport was a cooler filled with frozen meats, wrapped with a strapped down strap Bungee cords are not allowed we did not have a problem at all paul’s check in bag was a suitcase full of all dry goods, which were either food, aluminum foil, baggies, garbage bags, etc.
Our clothes were in carry-on backpacks because basically you don’t need a lot of clothes when you’re on a boat for a week
Let me know if this answers your question.
Also, keep your receipt for the meats because when you go through customs, they may tax you on The value.
The nice lady at customs this time said to Paul what do you have in the cooler? Is that your clothes and Paul said yes, so we weren’t taxed at all. Lol
